Some Hersham events to look out for: –

Hersham Community Picnic on Vauxmead

The Big Lunch in Hersham, is on Vauxmead (Faulkners Rd) on the 1st Sunday in June. It’s a nationally promoted annual event for communities to come together across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours and promote friendship and fun.  It’s a really nice occasion – see main blog part of this website for further details of this years event.

Hersham Festival

Don’t forget the Hersham Festival (Scouting for Ale is the strapline – but there’s comedy too!) this year it is on July 10th & 11th 2015 – it’s a really great annual event and Hersham tradition – for further details see http://www.hershamfestival.org/

Pancake Competition

After the success of the Hersham Pancake Competition on 22 Feb 2015 this annual event will be happening again in 2016 – date to be fixed. This event is held at St. Peter’s Church Hall, all are welcome all to have coffee and eat, compete or spectate. The competition has a long history in Hersham going back some 40+ years and involves flipping a pancake over a fixed wire as many times as possible.

Promanade Choir

The Promanade Choir is a local group a local group whose standards of performance is really exceptional. On the 22 March they performed music by John Rutter and Come ye Sons of Art by Henry Purcell at St Peters Chruch in Hersham. email goldsack@talktalk.net if you want to find out in advance when thenext event mingt be or if you are interested in joining this exceptional choir.

Rydens productions

Other Groups to look out for:-

Twigg Singers This is a group for women only, singing in 2 and 3 part harmony. Experience of singing is an advantage as we perform a lot of concerts each year, giving entertainment in clubs, hospitals, residential homes and day centres throughout Surrey and Middlesex.

To get to the kennels – Google Map  .   Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare is an independent charity devoted to caring for retired racing greyhounds and finding them homes. We are self-funding and rely on the kindness and generosity of our supporters and the general public.

Hersham Bowling Club (Coronation Recreation Ground) The Hersham Bowling Club was formed in 1900. Over the years, it has developed to include both outdoor lawn bowls and short mat bowls. We have a very active membership and not only play friendly matches against other clubs, but also participate in league matches and competitions for ladies, men and mixed both outdoors and short mat.  While the prime activity of the club is bowling, the social side is not forgotten.
