Building too high on Hersham Green – come to 31 March EBC planning meeting to help register views of residents

By | March 23, 2014

Mark House, 9-11 Queens Road, Hersham Application No.2013/5106

Occasionally the HRA highlights particular planning applications which we feel are significant for the wider Hersham community. We feel the above proposal is important because the site overlooks Hersham Green and is adjacent to the Hersham Green Conservation Area.

The HRA wrote to EBC in January 2014 broadly supporting the design of the proposed new building but registering deep concern about its overall height.  See our letter posted here on the HRA blog site.

We were pleased to see that EBC officers have now recommended refusal of the application for the reason above – however this is only a recommendation and the matter is due for discussion at an EBC planning sub-committee on 31st March. There is an opportunity to attend this meeting and it has been suggested that the more people who do attend the more likely it will be that this particular application will be refused and the height of the proposed building will have to be reduced.

Further details of this meeting will be posted on the EBC website here – the HRA would like to encourage people to attend.
